You Could Be Part of the First Remember Rockford Families Reunion September 3 through 5, 2010

The tiny town of Rockford survives! The Rockford Preservation Society produces a newsletter called Remember Rockford and the current issue is exhaulting the very first Remember Rockford Families Reunion. The event will be September 3 through 5 and everyone with past or present ties to this riverside village is cordially invited to register and join in on Labor Weekend for a three-day journey back in time.

The Reunion commences at 4:30 on Friday, September 3, as you pick up your registration materials and meal tickets at The Rockford Inn Bed & Breakfast. Dinner will be at 5:30 under a huge tent on the front lawn at the 19th century Rockford Inn Bed & Breakfast, where you will dine around your “family table” and enjoy a program of family lore and village history.
Saturday offers a step back in time with tours, historical presentations, two military encampments: Revolutionary and Civil War. Revolutionary War reenactors will be at Rockford Park and Civil War reenactors will be encamped at the York Tavern, now on the NC Civil War Trail. Enjoy music, vendors and exhibitors at the Park.

Enjoy whittling and knife swapping, quilting displays and a quilt raffle, lawn games and a children’s coloring contest.

Rockford Mercantile with a room dedicated to the history of Rockford at the 1850 Dudley Glass Store and Yadkin River Photography, housed in the 1900 Post Office will be open for business.

Volunteers will share the history of our historical sites. Genealogists will set up at Rockford Methodist Church to help trace family roots. Duplicating of old family photos and historical documents will be available, so please bring some to share.
At noon on Saturday, we’ll enjoy a barbecue picnic, also covered by the registration fees, at the Rockford Inn. The Reunion will end Sunday with an 11 a.m. church service at the 1914 Rockford Methodist Church, followed by a time of remembrance at the community cemetery beside the Rockford Baptist Church.

Register as an individual or family.
Individual registration is $40. Family registration is $150.
